A BRIEF HISTORY OF THE GRAMODAYA SANGH
Gramodaya Sangh, Bhadrawati, Dist-Chandrapur, Maharashtra, is a registered public Trust institution established in the year 1955 with an aim to develop the rural craft of traditional pottery of India. Along with the above work Gramodaya Sangh conducted the development activities of villages in the district by introducing Bio-gas, rural sanitation, women and children education and smoke-less chulas.

LATE Shri. S.K. Mirmira winner of ‘Jamnalal Bajaj Award for Rural technology’ laid the foundation of this insti tution on September 3 1955, during the zenith of Bhoodan movement.The Village- Bhadrawati is 25 Kms away from Chandrapur city on Chandrapur- Nagpur highway.
The colony comprises of 30 families living and working in the village and pursuing pottery for a living.
The area is blessed with immense raw material and other necessary requirements for development of Pottery.
National Award-2006 was given to Gramodaya sangh by the hands of Hon.Difence Minister Mr.Pranab Mukherji for the best work in rural pottery
